ENEMIES Enormous Ant, Meteor Snail, Murderous Amoeba, Potato Vulcan, Cannon Hopper, Bionic Pooch. TREASURE B1: [かいふくカプセル] - Healing Capsule B2: [57G], [103G], [めいさいふく] - Camouflage Fatigues [ふるびたコイン] - Fortune Coin SPECIAL TANK 1 : [モスキート] - MOSQUITO TANK ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Once Hunter has reached Level 4 and you have bought the Shotgun it's time to enter the cave at the south east of town. (You can find a free Shotgun inside the North Cave but it's a bit risky getting there and back safely on foot.) Enter the hole in the ground and go down the ramp to the first level. Although you can find a box by walking up the right side of the level there's nothing inside it so don't bother. Make your way to the top left of the cave by walking left, over the rock and then, going up and left, to find a wooden box containing a [かいふくカプセル] - HEALING CAPSULE x1. (Use the 調べる - Examine command on all boxes.) There's another empty box at the south side of the cave and nothing else on this level so just head down the left ramp. On the second level you'll run into a green caterpillar type enemy that fires a gun and a more powerful green enemy (the Cannon Hopper) that also uses a gun and hurts you for around 20 HP at Level 4. This is why you needed that Shotgun! Walk up the cave through the narrow gap to find a box containing [57G]. There's nothing else to find so walk all the way to the eastern wall and go down. Follow the path left to end up inside a room with a table and a couple of boxes. As soon as you move to the left a large red dog will appear, blocking the way. Check the second box to obtain [103 G] and open the first one if you have enough capacity for another item as it contains [ふるびたコイン] - FORTUNE COIN. Talk to the dog and answer YES [はい] or NO [いいえ]. "Yes" starts a battle! o----------------------------------o | BIONIC POOCH [ バイオニックポチ]. | |----------------------------------| | Drops | 32 gold | | Experience | 20 | o----------------------------------o Even at Level 5 one Launcher Shell.attack from the pooch will hurt you for nearly 50 HP and you'll only hit it for a small amount. Use a Healing Capsule [かいふくカプセル] to restore HP if you wish but on the second turn a cute pink tank will appear and be the target instead. It will soon make mincemeat of the enemy so you have nothing to worry about. After the battle answer YES [はい] and the driver will investigate the tank in the cave and leave in his pink one. Check the upper box to find a [めいさいふく] - CAMOUFLAGE FATIGUES, better armour for Hunter. Examine the console at the right of the cavern near the tank. Move the cursor to select "OPEN" and that unblocks the exit for the tank. o---------o----------------o | | | | T A N K | MOSQUITO | | | | o---------o----------------o Stand on top of the tank and choose 乗降 (Get on/off tank) and the text above Hunter's name to enter the vehicle. You'll get a new screen showing the green tank and allowing you to name it. I called mine Tank 1, but it's actually a [モスキート] - MOSQUITO. Click the lower right command to finish and claim your first tank! It has a Main Gun equipped with 32 shells and you'll soon use these up if you fight too many battles!. It also only has 30 Armour tiles so it is vulnerable to damage if you engage more powerful enemies than the ones in the cave. Return to town and talk to the person at the right of the counter in the garage and they will refill your ammunintion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ii. 北の洞窟 : Northern Cave [Wanted 1] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LOCATION West from Riorado, then north to the Barrier and before reaching it, turn east. Drive east and then south to find the cave entrance. ENEMIES Pyro Monkey, Bomb Turtle, Wandering Polytank, Cannon Hopper, Enormous Ant, Murderous Amoeba, Meteor Snail TREASURE B1: [てりゅうだん] - Hand Grenade [75G] [タイルパック40] - 40-Tile Pack B2: [ショットガン] - Shotgun B3: [7ミリきかんほう] - 7 mm Cannon SPECIAL WANTED 1: [サルモネラいっか] - SALMONELLA CLAN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You could attempt to kill the Salmonella Clan once you have a tank, or leave it until you have two of them and another ally, which is advisable! Drive west from Riorado and then north and turn east before reaching the Barrier house. Drive south and you'll spot a cave opening to the west, facing south. Enter the first level and make your way left and down the ramp. On the next floor, follow the arrows that take you up a narrow path and then right, until you reach the second ramp down. (You can drive over the tiles that show a skeleton.) Drive straight up this cave and you'll spot a tantalizing wooden box at the left where the path divides. If you attempt to reach it by going left you'll fall through a hidden hole in the ground just in front of it. But that's not a bad idea because you land in the third floor where you'll soon find the wanted monsters! Just drive up this cave towards the exit ramp at the top right, and that should prompt a random encounter with them. o----------------------------------------------------o | W A N T E D 1 : SALMONELLA CLAN (Reward: 1,000G) | |----------------------------------------------------| | Attacks | Blowtorch (effect: burn) | o----------------------------------------------------o | Experience | 180 | | Drops | 220 gold | o----------------------------------------------------o There are four of them and they use flame attacks which will damage your tanks. You need to make sure both tanks have well over 100 SP to be on the safe side. Hunter's Main gun will cause around 35 damage to each of them (with him at Level 6) and you don't have much choice about the Mechanic's guns as he has to use the Autogun on the rented tank. At level 4 for him that does about 12 HP damage to them. There are 2 pairs of them so target one pair at a time. After the battle, climb the ramp to the floor where you fell and drive down the left of the cavern to get to the wooden box. Open it from the left side so you don't fall back down and acquire the [7ミリきかんほう] - 7 MM CANNON. You might have to drop some Armour Tiles to be able to move! This is an Autogun which makes winning battles a much cheaper affair: if you can work out how the hell to equip the gun... Go to the main menu and choose 装備 [Equip] and then click on the name of your tank. You'll see that the new gun has been added to the tank's equipment list but it's not highlighted with a red icon. Click on it to add it to your active equipment and that's it. Now you can select the Autogun during battles and save your main gun for tougher fights. You might need it for the turtle tank type enemies. Drive back around to the right of the cave and down towards the ramp up to the next floor. This time, drive south, following the arrows back towards the ramp but keep going and turn left to find another ramp leading up. This takes you to a ledge on B1 with a box containing [タイルパック40] - 40 TILE PACK. This item will go directly to the first tank's Tank Tools menu and can be used from there to add SP to any tank. (Select 道具 (Tools) and then the Mosquito to open the Tools screen.) Return to B2 and drive up the other ramp to the main floor. Head left and down into a cave where you have to leave your tanks and walk over some stones to reach another wooden box. Examine it to obtain one [てりゅうだん] - HAND GRENADE. Drive all the way to the east wall of the cave and leave your tanks again to cross some stones. Keep walking down the cave to find some steps leading down to the lower floor. Walk up and left and you'll find another wooden box. Open it to obtain a [ショットガン] - SHOTGUN. (You'll have noticed that equipment items are sent automatically to the equipment screen and not the item one.) Give this to the Mechanic and equip it. Return to your tanks and drive left, back towards the ramps. Carry down a little and go right to find the last treasure [78G] inside a wooden box. That's everything so now you can leave this place and collect the reward for killing the wanted enemy! Visit a Hunter's Office and talk to the man behind the counter. Select the second option to tell him you are here for the reward. Say YES [はい] you want the money! You'll know you've got it because the gold is added to your cash immediately, and the bounty poster will change and show a big red stamp across it. One down! ============================================================================== 02. ネギ : Negi ....................................................... *MM02 ============================================================================== LOCATION North east from the Barrier. Obtain the [ルビーのレンズ] - Ruby Lens ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Drive east and north a short distance and you'll see an area of brown ground that the tank cannot enter. This is a kind of bog but Hunter can walk over it with no problems. Park the tank at the south side of this large area where you can see a wooden hut representing the village, and walk over the smaller trees to reach Negi (Onion). The Inn only has cheap rooms. Enter the shop and you'll find a girl who will save your game and a Tools Shop. Climb the stairs to find the stairs down to the three people sitting at the table if you wish to talk to them. Open the three wooden boxes on the upper floor to find a [ロケットはなび] - FIREWORKS ROCKET in the first one, [ぢかたび] - WORK CLOGS and {ぐんて] - ARMY GLOVES in the other two. Remember that these will go to the Equipment menu if you wish to equip them. There are two wooden buildings at the west side of the town. Enter the right one and go down the stairs where you'll find a trasporter device. Walk to the front of the device and examine the dark computer at the right. Say YES [はい] and you'll be shown some possible locations: in fact the only two at the moment are Riorado [リオラド] and Negi [ネギ]. Click on the name and scroll through the rest of the text. Then, walk up the steps to stand above the central round thing and you'll be transported to a similar room back home. Leave by the door and you'll be met by the man that was blocking it before. He's surprised to see you... and moves aside. You can return to Negi through the transporter and now the route back to Riorado is open for the rest of the game. Go inside the lower house and open the two wooden boxes to find [7G] and a [かいふくカプセル] - HEALING CAPSULE. Talk to the young woman and the other people to find that she has lost her wedding ring. We'll try and help her with that and it's pretty simple. Leave the house and talk to the man next to the field. Yes, we're going to dig over his potato patch. Stand in the bottom right corner of the field and choose to [調べる] - Examine the ground. You'll see the option YES [はい] or NO [いいえ] and choose Yes to search. You should find the [けっこんゆびわ] - WEDDING RING at this spot. If not, then do the same thing on the rest of the field. You might find other random things too! Return to the woman and hand over the ring (just talk to her and it occurs automatically) and then you'll hear a reassuring triumphal tune. Check the items and you have something new. Yes, it's the [ルビーのレンズ] - RUBY LENS. This is one of four lenses needed to make the best weapon in the game. By the way I've called this place Negi because I'm used to that name from Metal Max Returns, although a more literal translation is "Green Onion"... Free Gold! There's a hidden stock of Gold on the world map north of Negi which can be found now, even though you don't yet have a Metal Detector. If you can't find it now, leave it until later because the enemies are pretty strong for the pair of you fighting on foot. Walk north from Negi until you see some patches of tarmac road. Starting from green square south of the cross section [+], walk west three steps to reach another bit of road. From here, take four steps left and one down and Examine the ground to find [1931 GOLD]. ----------------------------------------------- -- TOOLS STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) Healing Capsule HP recovery 10 かいふくカプセル Blaze Bottle Throw 10 かえんびん Pencil Missile Throw 20 ペンシルミサイル Neutralising Cream Heal acid 20 ちゅうわざい Repair Kit Tank repair 80 しゅうりキット ----------------------------------------------- -- EQUIPMENT STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) Shotgun Weapon 180 ショットガン .44 Magnum Weapon 295 44マグナム Baseball Cap Head Armour 10 やきゅうぼう Camouflage Fatigues Body Armour 90 めいさいふく ----------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ i. The right one sells shells although most of the slots are sold out you can restock the main gun. Inside you'll find a bar with two cheap drinks to cheer you up and a cheap inn. Enter the upper tent and scroll down the shop menu to find an intriguing item that costs a huge amount! This is a mini-game that you can buy and play with later on when you have lots of money to burn! School. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From Negi, drive east keeping the mountains and trees to your south, and then drive due south down a more or less straight white road until you see a town. with a fence around part of it. This is probably the biggest town in the game and there are many people to talk to (if you can understand what they say...) but only one item to find. Enter the large garage and talk to the man at the left counter to replenish your gun ammo and Armour Tiles. After saying you want to buy (the first option), there is a new screen. Choose the first option to add Ammunition and the second option to add Armour Tiles. (Tiles cost 1G for 10 so it's cheap enough, but wait until you've decided what new tank parts to buy before adding Armour Tiles .) The mechanic behind the box will repair any damaged tank parts once for you. The other counter is a Tool shop. Scroll down to see the full list of what's on offer. Don't buy Tile Packs or tank equipment if your SP is at the maximum because your tank won't be able to move and it will be a waste of money! Remember that any tile packs bought from a vending machine or shop will be added to your tank immediately. There are two more garages to the right side of the town. The left one is where you can buy some new tank equipment. You'll see the details of each part at the top left corner of the screen as you scroll through them all. I'd advise buying the better engine as soon as you can afford it! Talk to the person in blue at the right to see the Tank Tools for sale and buy the [ドッグシステム].- DOG SYSTEM This wonderful Tank Tool will allow you to instantly move between any locations you've already visited AND to instantly leave a dungeon or building. But only when you're driving a tank. Choose [道具] - Tools from the main menu, and select the tank and then choose the [ドッグシステム] - Dog System. Pick the top option to turn the Tank Tool ON. You will be shown a list of towns that you can move to. Pick one, and your party will be deposited outside the location. The other garage rents out tanks. Talk to the man at the middle counter to hire one and the man at the right to return a rented tank. Be warned that they start out with 0 SP and you'll need to add some Armour Tiles before using one in the field or it will get damaged and eject the driver, and you'll be left without a tank as it will automatically return to the rental shop. The counter to the right refills shells for the Main gun (and SE guns when you have them). Pick the first option to buy and the first option again on the next menu screen. Select a tank and you'll see your guns listed with the amount of shells. Scroll the number to buy as many as you wish. Main gun shells cost 5G each. Choose the second option to see the specialist shells for sale. There's a good equipment store and a second Tools shop in the same building, although the Tools shop sells the same stuff as the one inside that first garage. Enter the bar on the south side of town and you'll notice a computer screen at the left. This is the mini-game *FLOG RACE* where you can bet on frogs to win a race. Pay 50G up front and select one of three frogs to win at the odds shown. To the right of the games machine is a jukebox with four new tunes added to it. Talk to the man playing the other games machine at the right and he'll move away allowing you to play a slightly different version. This one requires a bet of 100G. The building with no marker near the left entrance is the Hunter's Office. Walk around to the back of the counter where you'll find a machine that tells you the experience needed to reach the next level. There are three wanted posters. and the new one is for a green monster called DOS PIRANHAS [ドス・ピラニアス] with a reward of 3,000G. The other unmarked house on the main street is an Interiors Shop where you can buy decorative items for your room. Try it out with the cheapest item and buy the poster. Say Yes and they will deliver it to your home. Return there and you'll find it displayed on the back wall of Hunter's bedroom (though there's no close up view). It's actually quite cute to see all the stuff you can accumulate! Climb up the steps to enter the large house and go upstairs. There's another "experience counter" machine inside the Mechanic's bedroom and a wooden box. Open it to find a [しゅうりキット] - REPAIR KIT. There's just one place left to visit: the schoolhouse in the lower right corner of town. Find the girl in the back room and talk to her. Offer money to support the school and they will build a statue in your honour! It's quite a sweet touch, but not necessary. You have to donate more than 530G it seems, but I'm not going to waste gold on this now. Before you leave town for pastures new I'd suggest buying the better Main Gun at the tank shop and the Chonov engine that will allow you to carry heavier equipment. Buy the engine first and equip it and sell off the [ビートル] - Beetle for 100G. You can also sell the 45mm Main Gun for 220G and the 7mm Sub Gun for 100G if you buy the better 9mm gun. Always a good plan to have the very best tank equipment you can afford. Stock up on Tank Tiles and these are added to the tank's Tools list without any weight penalty. Check that both tanks have a good amount of SP, although it doesn't need to be at the maximum unless you are planning to kill the wanted monster, in which case you'll need all the SP you can get! Also, stock up on Blaze Bottles for the Mechanic and you can throw these at some enemies. The shell shop is at the right of the rental garage. Check the second option to be shown the two kinds of shells for sale. You can buy the High Explosive shells from the vending machine if you want to try these out in the battle on the bridge (I forgot to do that but it might be a good idea instead of using the Blaze bottles). Buy as many Armour Piercing Shells as you can equip for the Mosquito for the battle with the Big Cannon. ----------------------------------------------- -- TOOLS STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) Healing Capsule HP recovery 10 かいふくカプセル Blaze Bottle Throw 10 かえんびん Pencil Missile Throw 20 ペンシルミサイル Neutralising Cream Heal acid 20 ちゅうわざい Repair Kit Tank repair 80 しゅうりキット Smokescreen Battle Tool 50 えんまくはなび ----------------------------------------------- -- EQUIPMENT STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) .44 Magnum Weapon 295 44マグナム Boomerang Wrench Weapon (M) 320 ブーメランスパナ Red Peony's Dagger Weapon (HS) 480 ひぼたんのドス Camouflage Hat Head Armour 60 めいさいぼうし Leather Gloves Arm Armour 50 かわのてぶくろ Camouflage Fatigues Body Armour 110 めいさいふく London Boots Foot Armour 80 ロンドンブーツ ----------------------------------------------- -- TANK PARTS STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) 45mm Gun Main Gun 440 45ミリほう 55mm Gun Main Gun 540 55ミリほう 7 mm Cannon Autogun 200 7ミリきかんほう 9mm Cannon Autogun 380 9ミリきかんほう Beetle-T Engine 340 ビートルT Chonov Engine 720 チヨノフ HAL900 C Unit 380 HAL900 ----------------------------------------------- -- TANK TOOLS STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) 40-Plate Pack SP recovery 60 タイルパック40 Dog System Move location 350 ドッグシステム Alkali Wax Remove acid 60 アルカリワックス ----------------------------------------------- -- SHELL SHOP -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE NO. TREASURE None SPECIAL Find your Mechanic ally here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- After picking up a second tank from the rental place in Pobre Obre, leave town by the west exit and drive a little further down the road to the visible house. If you want to play the game with just Hunter then don't visit here because you don't have an option about the mechanic joining you! You don't have to visit Pobre Obre first, though if you do you can find out more about this young man by talking to the folks inside the mansion. (He's the son of the rich people.) Get out of your tank and enter the house, and as soon as you walk right someone will rush past and start playing with your tank! Talk to the old man inside the tent in the courtyard and answer Yes and go back outside to find your tank has disappeared! It doesn't matter though. Just return to Pobre Obre and go back to the hut and you'll find your tank has been returned. Talk to the driver (just face the tank and press Talk) and answer Yes [はい], twice and you'll get your mechanic (ロビン - Robin). You MUST accept him or you won't get your tank back! He won't enter the rented tank until you make him. Go to the command [乗降] to drive/get it in the tank and choose his name and the tank and he'll enter it. If you want to get your Mosquito back then press the "drive" command and then choose the top option for both of you to exit the tanks. Do the same again while standing on top of the tanks (with Hunter on top of the Mosquito) and you'll both enter your tanks. Drive off. You can give items to the Mechanic by choosing the second option under the [道具] - Tools command and pass over a selected item to him. Mechanic joins you at Level 1 and the next thing to do is to level him up a bit and give him some better equipment. (He doesn't have a weapon.) It's a good time to go after your first outlaw in the Northern Cave where you'll also find another Shotgun, or explore the area around Negi, and find the hidden cottages! (Just one or two battles with you both in tanks will level him up fast.) |
