----------- 1. SOL WEST ----------- Sol is a little different from other towns because one section of it isn't accessible at all when you first arrive. Although there's a garage building it might appear as if there is nowhere for your tanks to shelter. Drive up and turn left into the building with the arrows pointing left and you're inside, and can park here while you explore. You'll find the Memory Centre and Hunter's Office inside this building, together with the Refill Station. The man standing behind the person in red will repair any damaged parts. The other buildings are only accessible on foot and there's no bar in this part of town. The Inn is on three floors and you can jump off the balcony from the top floor, which is always fun. You'll have to do some fighting soon, without tanks, so buying better armour and weapons is essential. If you want to upgrade tanks parts then take a side trip to Eden, because the other shops are inaccessible until you've completed a tricky mission here. Sol Tower is to the right, but it's blocked by a man and a parked tank and you'll have to find an alternative route to the far side of town, although the tower itself can't be explored in this game. (Play MMR is you want to know what's inside!) Climb to the second floor of the garage where someone tells you about a route (well, they did in MMR!). Anyway, it's easy enough to find. Head for the upper left of the town behind the garage and you'll see a sandy patch of ground with a manhole in the middle of it. Examine it to open up access to the underground sewers of Sol! SOL EAST ----------- After claiming the LAV tank the whole of Sol is open for business with the second garage and Bar accessible. As well as that you can rent out tanks. Return to the west side and enter the tent at the back of the town where the woman rents out three tanks! Inside the bar you'll find two wanted posters, two waitresses and a Jukebox. The house at the right has a scared man who has barricaded himself behind a wardrobe, but you can enter the house by the back door and talk to him. The garage sells some extremely expensive tank parts and some less expensive shells as well as ordinary shells for the Main and SE guns. The three computer screens are pointless: no mini-games and nothing to see. ----------------------------------------------- -- TANK PARTS STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) 140mm Spark Main Gun 9900 140ミリスパルク 155mm Cannon Main Gun 10600 155ミリキャノン 18 mm Cannon Autogun 4600 18ミリきかんほう Thunder Blaster Autogun 6000 サンダーブラスト Maniac Chef SE Gun 5000 マニアックシェフ DD Hysteric SE Gun 15500 DDヒステリック Impulse TT Engine 8210 インパルスTT V24 Hulk Engine 12800 V24ハルク ----------------------------------------------- -- TANK TOOLS STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) 80-Plate Pack SP recovery 120 タイルパック80 L-Plate Pack SP recovery 200 タイルパックL Dog System Move location 350 ドッグシステム Medical Kit HP Recovery 200 いりょうキット ----------------------------------------------- -- SHELLS STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) High Explosive Group 25 りゅうだん Cold Shell Group 50 れいとうだん Napalm Shell Group 50 ナパームだん Panic Shell Group 35 パニックだん ----------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ i. ソル下水道 : Sol Sewers [Tank 6] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LOCATION Under the manhole cover found at the top left of Sol. ENEMIES Methyl Amazon, Drill Worm, Empty Tank, Wandering Polytank. TREASURE Sewers: [メガネのレンズ] - Glasses Lens [ワニのながぐつ] - Crocodile Knee-Highs Sol East: [11ミリバルカン] - 11 mm Vulcan [ウォズニアクII] - Wozniak II [インパルス] - Impulse SPECIAL TANK 6 : [装甲車] - ARMOURED CAR/LAV ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you can manage it, (and there's no reason why not) head over to Eden and buy the Metallic Suit for Soldier as this is the best armour just for her. With her high HP and stonking defence she's going to be your human tank in the sewers. Sadly, there's no Freeze gun in this version of the game so you'll have to make do with something less effective. The Ultrasonic Wave Gun is powerful and it targets groups so this is good for the soldier when fighting masses of Amazons. You'll need some Fire Extinguishers for the boss (as a precaution) and don't use a fire weapon on it, or fire tools. Buy Shield Cloaks for the other two and all the better equipment you can afford including spare protectors for everyone (at least one each). Remember that you don't have tanks so you cannot quickly escape this dungeon and it's tough going. You'll also need the better quality Healing Drinks and maybe a Smokescreen item or two. Drop off any Tools you don't need back at Riorado to make room for all this. If you're not sure about this expense then try out the sewers and see how you get on! Walk right, along the tunnel and you'll see a bright red something swimming in the sewer! Continue along the path as it turns down the screen, and then go right, along a narrow path, to speak to an old man who tells you what you will have guessed already. From here, return to the main passage and walk left. Follow the path and go up at the junction. You'll find a room with a computer screen. Examine it and select ON to drain the sewers. Go down the ladder into the now accessible lower sewer, and keep going right, and you'll soon spot the red monster. Check your health and protectors (they might have been broken after getting pummelled by the Amazons) and go forwards to meet the sewer boss! In fact he's not red at all, but a large green crocodile. o----------------------------------------------------------o | MUTANT CROCODILE [ ミュータントワニ ] Sol Sewers | |----------------------------------------------------------| | Drops | 200 gold | | Experience | 4000 | | Attacks | Breathes Flames (all) Thrashes tail (one) | o----------------------------------------------------------o At level 19 or 20 with good equipment you should survive his attack on one, although it can do well over 300 HP worth of damage. He doesn't have a lot of HP though (I think about 400, if that) and one shot from the soldier with the Ultra Wave Gun might kill him outright: if it connects! He is able to deflect some shots or guard somehow and some of your attacks might miss altogether. After the battle walk along to the right of the sewer, and you'll find a wooden crate next to the east wall. Examine it to find an excellent pair of boots, the [ワニのながぐつ] - CROCODILE KNEE-HIGHS. You can leave the sewer at the steps nearby, but first of all head back to collect a very important item. The Amazon enemies seem to disappear now and you'll encounter weaker ones, although the Drill Worms might turn up in large groups and they can cause some damage, so be careful. (Alternatively, leave and return for this later, but don't forget! The switch stays off, so it's easy enough to enter again at the manhole and walk along the sewer to find the crate.) Go back to the point where the path turned to find the old man and you'll see that there's another wooden box revealed when the water was drained. Make your way back along the path until you can go down to sewer floor and access the box. Examine it for the reward of music and the [メガネのレンズ] - GLASSES LENS, another one of the items needed for the best weapon! When you exit the Sewer you'll find yourself close to the Tower and the man that was guarding the tank runs off. Croc is not a Wanted monster, so you don't get any reward for killing him...except, of course, you DO get another tank! Now all you have to do is walk over to the tank and claim your [装甲車] - ARMOURED CAR! In the translation for MMR this tank was called the LAV, which might seem an odd name, but in fact the LAV is an abbreviation for Light Armoured Vehicle so it makes perfect sense! Anyway, I'm going to call it by that name. (The LAV has wheels and tyres which is what distinguishes it from tracked tanks.) . o---------o----------------o | | | | T A N K | ARMOURED CAR | | | (LAV) | o---------o----------------o The LAV joins you with 120/1710 SP and is already equipped with a [11ミリバルカン] - 11 MM VULCAN Autogun, [ウォズニアクII] - WOZNIAK II C Unit and [インパルス] - IMPULSE engine. It doesn't have an open slot for a Main Gun so you'll need to pay a visit to the tank mod place at Il Migra or Rocco to get one added, but it cost a whopping 8000 Gold! You can also open an SE slot for 2666G. ============================================================================== 10. イーデン : Eden..................................................... *MM10 ============================================================================== LOCATION Southeast from the South Ferry, down a narrow green path between mountains. It's only a short detour down the railway line. Back in Eden, the Hunter's Office is inside the Transporter room, which is unusual and easy to miss! Shop for your tanks in the large garage where you'll find the Tools shop at the lower right corner counter and the Parts at the upper right counter. Buy at least one of each type of gun. They will all last you a long time and the Excalibur was one of the most useful SE guns in MMR. The Spark seems expensive but it has a greater capacity for ammunition than some other guns and it will smash enemies fast if you equip it to the tank that Hunter drives. The Auto Repair mechanic is at the top left of this garage and the Memory Centre at the left. The Rental garage has three tanks for rent. The rest of the services are in the train carriages. The Bar comprises two carriages with a Juke Box and a second Tools Shop at the far left, although it sells the same things as the first one. The unlabelled carriages are domestic residences with nothing to find, but the one behind the garage hosts the equipment and tools shops. ----------------------------------------------- -- TOOLS STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) Healing Drink HP recovery 20 かいふくドリンク DD Pineapple Throw 30 DDパイナップル Fire Extinguisher Douse flames 120 しょうかき Repair Kit Tank repair 80 しゅうりキット Smokescreen Battle Tool 50 えんまくはなび ----------------------------------------------- -- EQUIPMENT STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) Neutron Gun Weapon (HS) 2980 ニュートロンガン Pitching Machine Weapon 3800 ピッチングマシン Ultrasonic Wave Gun Weapon 4600 ちょうおんぱほう Metallic Suit Body Armour (S) 2480 メタリックスーツ Bulletproof Vest Protector 550 ぼうだんチョッキ ----------------------------------------------- -- TANK PARTS STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) 160mm Spark Main Gun 15500 160ミリアモルフ Vulcan 20 mm Autogun 7300 20ミリバルカン Excalibur SE Gun 7000 エクスカリバー V48 Hulk Engine 22000 V48ハルク ----------------------------------------------- -- TANK TOOLS STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) 40-Plate Pack SP recovery 60 タイルパック40 80-Plate Pack SP recovery 120 タイルパック80 L-Plate Pack SP recovery 200 タイルパックL Auto-AC Tank Tool 2400 オートエアコン ----------------------------------------------- -- SHELLS STORE -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE COST (G) Poison Gas Shell Group 30 どくガスだん Sleep Shell Group 30 さいみんガスだん Panic Shell Group 35 パニックだん Hollow Charge One 50 ホローチャージ ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- -- VENDING MACHINE 1/2/5 (Garage/Rental/Shop)-- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE NO. TREASURE World Map: [5306 Gold] - southeast from Eden Subway B1: [ ジェットサーベル] - Jet Saber SPECIAL WANTED 6: [ムカデロン] - MUKADELON ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Starting from Eden, drive south down the railway track and make your way along the open path to the southeast. Use the Metal Detector when you reach the area to the right of the last section of sandy ground and track. Face the low hill to the south and you'll see the red flash inside the hills. Get out of your tanks and walk through the trees facing the hills at the south. Examine the ground and you'll pick up [5306 GOLD]! Carry on along the track a short distance and you'll find a cave opening into the Subway Ruins. You'll also be able to see the edge of a man-made platform with a dark tower, across the water to the east, which is the next destination, via a roundabout route! Drive into the cave and down the staircase and open the wooden crate on the landing to obtain the [ ジェットサーベル] - JET SABER. You can get this early on (as soon as you have taken the Ferry to the south) and leave exploring the subway until later if you wish. However, this Wanted enemy isn't too difficult to defeat and it's not a bad plan to come here BEOFRE going down the sewers in Sol so you have sufficient cash to equip everyone with the very best stuff that Gold can buy! Continue to the bottom of the stairs and check the orange box in the lower left corner of the tunnel. Talk to the man who appears and carry on to the right and then, through a gap in the wall. You're now in a cave and there are still no enemies. Drive down the ramp and go left to the rail tracks, and down and right, through another cave and down a ramp. You'll find a man inside this cave, facing the wall. Talk to him and check out the crack on the north wall of the tunnel when he moves away. (Use Examine to do that.) That will give you the option to say Yes or No. Answer YES to trigger a scene where you blast the wall allowing access to the rest of the subway. As soon as this happens enemies appear and you'll quickly trigger the appearance of the Wanted monster although it might not be the first battle. o-----------------------------------------------------o | W A N T E D 6 | M U K A D E L O N Reward: 32,00G | |-----------------------------------------------------| | Attacks: Hypnotic Gas (effect: sleeping gas, all) | | Thrashes its tail (attacks all) | | Tries to bite (one) | o-----------------------------------------------------o | Experience | 3900 | | Drops | 1 gold | o-----------------------------------------------------o He can take off around 150 SP on each turn for every tank with that tail lashing attack, and will use a less powerful attack that inflicts status effects. The best way to deal with him is to fire shells, especially cold shells (buy them in Freeza) and armour piercing ones. Main guns and SE guns might not do much damage it him, especially if you haven't yet bought the more expensive ones. So long as your tanks have plentiful SP at the start of the battle you can manage it pretty easily. My team were at Level 19 with the Buggy, Mosquito and Van. Use the Dog System to escape the tunnels and return to a Hunter's Office to claim the reward, and spend it! Return to Pobre Obre or Audrey to buy some Alkali Wax Tank Tools so you can remove acid from your tanks. Return to the tunnels and this time continue to the left where you broke the wall. Enemy encounters are high and there's a good chance that your tanks will suffer from the acid status effect from the DNA Blobs. Drive to the left and take the first turn down and use the ramp to ascend to the next floor. At this point you'll meet larger groups of the more dangerous pink Sonic Cobras and blue Laser Beetles. A pretty combination, but don't underestimate these enemies. Follow the short tunnel to enter the rail track section and drive down the right wall until you can't go any further. Head over to the left wall and you'll see an opening. This takes you to a hole in the north cave wall which leads back to the subway. Drive right some distance, and up the stairs, and you'll be on an island with a dark tower. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ii. 電波塔 : Broadcast Tower ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LOCATION On an island accessed by the North-South Subway Ruins, south from Eden. There are no enemies in the main tower and although there is a lift, you cannot go beyond the third floor. ------- Floor 1 ------- This place seems quite fun because it has a dedicated games room, sort of! Walk right after entering the tower and you'll find a range of vending machines, juke boxes and mini-games. Change the music if you don't like the tune in here, although there's only one other option. All the games are the same *Flog Race* with the same 50G wager and both jukeboxes play the same tunes. ----------------------------------------------- -- VENDING MACHINE 1 -- ----------------------------------------------- NAME TYPE NO. Find the man at the top left who's blocking access to another wooden crate. Talk to him and he tells you that he's lost "Marilyn". Your task is to find her! She's lost somewhere underground so go down the stairs to the right of the man until you reach the underground level. -------- Basement -------- Walk down the left or right passage and you'll encounter a few of those Methyl Amazon enemies, but they won't be too much trouble to you. Follow the only path to the right (or left) and you'll spot the girl waiting in the middle of basement. Talk to her and answer YES. She'll tag on to the back of the group. Return to the man and he'll greet you and move aside with his dolly girl! Now you can reach the crate in the corner. Examine it to acquire another protector: [ぼうだんチョッキ] - BULLETPROOF VEST. After getting these two items go to the second floor. ------- Floor 2 -------- You're on a floor with lots of "people" and displays most of which won't work. Find a wooden crate at the top left corner which contains some new armour: [ヘビメタグローブ] - HEAVY METAL GLOVES. Use the "Examine" command on the two computer screens and switch them ON to make the mannequins dance. (Just move the cursor to "On".) The information boards cannot be read. It's obvious that you should get to the stairs in the middle of the floor, but when you try to do that a little devil mannequin will move and block you. Enter the square path from the upper left corner and the devil will move along the path from the right to the left. As he moves go back and stand behind the red doll at the top left of the upper row of blue dolls. When the devil moves to the left of your position, push forwards, and the red doll will block him into the top left corner. Now you can get to the stairs by walking along the path from the right and the devil will stay where he is. If you return here later, the puzzle will have re-set. -------- Floor 4 -------- Climb the stairs to the fourth floor where there are holes in the floor. Walk down the corridor and door will open allowing you access to the whole floor. DO NOT go through the openings in the outer wall or you'll be back at the bottom of the tower! Make you way around the gaps to the right and skirt around the hole heading left to the middle of the floor. Go through the opening and up to elevator and choose floor 5. ------- Floor 5 ------- You'll find two old men living up here and four computers, but nothing happens when you talk to them and check the screens. However, there's a wooden crate here, hiding between the two sets of computers. Open it to acquire the [BSコントローラ] - BS CONTROLLER. Talk to the left man and he mentions the item, but I'll explain a bit more! This Tool is extremely valuable for two reasons. It will display the world map and your current location, and call a Laser to strike all enemies if you use it in battle, but you'll have to wait for three turns before anything happens. Return to Floor 4 and exit by one of the openings and you'll be back on the world map outside the tower. Check out your new super item by selecting TOOLS and to USE it from the character whose inventory it's in (I keep it with Hunter but it's easy enough to recognise the name). You'll be shown the world map and your current position is highlighted with a flashing black and white square. Pick up your tanks and get out of there. ============================================================================== 11. サンタ・ポコ : Santa Poco............................................ *MM11 ============================================================================== LOCATION Follow the track all the way south from the Tank Ferry, along the river to the west, past the waterfall and then, north. Healing Spring. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Make a dash for Santa Poco and then rest and heal up and return down the track to the Waterfall to the secret base. It's much easier to do it this way around rather than attempting that battle after the long journey from the South Ferry. Also, from here you can reach every other location aside from the Global Relief Centre, which needs a password! If you want to gain gold and levels quickly then make your way north west hugging the edges of the desert and head south. You should run into a large green tortoise looking enemy which gives you 15000 Gold and 13000 experience points for each one killed. Use Armour Piercing Shells to destroy its defence or a Hollow Charge shell, and then fire your most powerful guns. It's tough to defeat and might run away but it won't hurt you too much. Anyway, the good news about Santa Pcco is that this is the only place with a Tank Wash. This will remove bad status effects such as acid or bird crap. Drive into the small Rental Tank building at the right and don't go inside but head left along a narrow road and you'll be at the front of the tank wash building. Approach the two men blocking what looks like a tank parking building. Talk to the one at the right and answer YES and pay a small sum. You'll roll forwards into the tank wash and emerge with your tanks all shiny and new. There's a Vending Machine at the top left of this building. Another unique service in situated in the middle of the town inside the large building that looks like a garage. Go in here on foot and try to enter the pool. You'll be prompted to answer Yes and everyone will be fully healed, so there's no need to stay at the Inn. The Bar has two Frog Race machines and a Juke Box, and the massage man is found at the table to the right of the door. There are a number of Vending Machines including three inside the left building, although one of them is blocked by someone so you can't even see what's on offer, and the others are all sold out. I'll tell you what you're missing though. ;) Two more are in the Tank Parts building, with another inside the Tank Wash. The Equipment shop has yet another Vending Machine and there's a second shop inside the tent at the back of the town. Attempt to enter the door of the unmarked house at the left of town and you'll see a dog and grassy path leading around the left corner of the house. At the end of the path you'll see a manhole cover. Walk around the path, pushing the dog gently out of the way if it won't move on its own! Examine the manhole to access a ladder down to a hidden transporter room. (In MMR this was a route to the Life Sciences Lab building you found all that time ago which had no access. But, you needed to have visited the final town on the transfer list first and then select that place from the locations listed to trigger a transfer malfunction. In this game, the final location on the list is Hell's Gate, located north from Santa Poco. (In fact, I eventually got the malfunction by selecting Hell's Gate from Riorado.) While you're here take some time to re-organise your tanks' parts giving the better stuff to your best tanks and leaving the others parked at Riorado. By this point you should have all tanks except for the last one and enough Gold to spend on better equipment. Use the Abrams and Red Wolf as your main two and consider improving defence and shells capacity if you haven't already done so. Make sure all tanks have the Emmy C Unit because you need the better accuracy that gives you, as well as a powerful main gun and SE gun. Mix it up so they each have slightly different weapons. Invest in some tank tools for better protection from status effects and to boost accuracy. Money spent on chassis improvements won't be wasted because these two tanks will serve you to the end of the game. |
