LOCATION
Northeast from Santa Poco in the middle of a forest to the west of the cracked
ground. (East from Hell's Gate barrier.)

You cannot use tanks inside this location and you've got to defeat a Wanted
monster on foot. Stock up on protectors, healing items (Energy Capsules are
better than the Healing Drink) and the best weapons
you can afford and maybe buy the Light Saber in Santa Poco, especially if you
haven't upgraded weapons for a while, or the cheaper Neutron Gun from Eden and
Sol. You want weapons that target a single enemy for the best results, but so
long as Soldier has the best weapon and everyone else has the best armour and
protectors you should be able to manage the battle, even at Levels of 23/24.

To find this place drive north east from Santa Poco, towards the large crack
in the ground. There is a small building surrounded by trees, west of the
crack and next to the water's edge. Drive north, edging between the trees and
the cracked ground to the top right of the forest, and park the tanks at the
edge of the wooded area where the trees are small. You can walk through these
trees on to reach the building.

As soon as you enter you'll trigger the sentry machines and have to fight four
of them (2 Laser Eye and 2 Sonic Stunner), which is simple enough and there
are no other enemies. You can go through to the back of the room at the right
and use the ladders to reach a lower floor with a moving conveyor belt, or
just save yourself the effort and climb the steps at the left of the entrance
and slide onto the conveyor belt. This drops you off onto the lower belt and
you'll just stand there waiting for something to happen as it slowly moves
right. Eventually you'll be dropped off to the basement discard floor. Note
that you cannot get out of here except by climbing the stairs back to the top
floor.

Walk right and down the edge of the middle staircase and you should run into
the boss, He turned up immediately although in MMR he took a bit of coaxing
before he emerged from his hiding place in the trash. If you wander around the
the room you'll also encounter Enormous Ant enemy groups.

I guess he has a very leathery skin because only the soldier seemed able to
hurt him. Annoyingly, if you use the Gas Mask you don't get to make an attack
so I'd suggest not bothering with those except maybe for Robin so he stays
active and able to heal the other two. The [みみせん ] Earplugs headgear might
help protect from confusion and I equipped these to the soldier Franken can
hit for a huge amount - over 500 loss of HP by Robin and 700 on Hunter and
that's how you'll know that a protector has been smashed. He doesn't attack
with such ferocity on every turn, only inflicting less than 10 HP damage,
which is of little reassurance, given the fact that he can also
paralyse/confuse someone.

Check on protectors if someone is hit because it has probably broken and you
must replace it. Even if it survives a huge wallop, you'll still need to use
an Energy Capsule to recover. At Level 23 I ended up with everyone either dead
or paralysed or my first attempt: not our finest hour! Try buying the Rocket
Punch, bought in Canabelle, for Soldier and defend with the other two if
you're having the same kind of trouble However I managed better on my next
attempt at the same levels so it is possible to win at low levels, with just
the soldier attacking, as he doesn't have much HP.

After Dust Franken bites the dust, climb the stairs until you reach an
open floor. Go left and you'll find a wooden crate in the lower left corner.
It contains a throwing Tool [のうしゅくメチル] - CONCENTRATED METHYL ACID.

Keep climbing the stairs until you reach a corridor with a locked door. Use
the [ロックハッカ]ー Lock Hacker on it and go down the stairs in this room.
You're inside a small room with two wooden crates. The lower one contains
another protector, the [バリアシール] - BARRIER SEAL and the upper one has a
weapon, the [ハンドバルカン] - HAND VULCAN,.which targets a group of enemies.

Return to the previous floor and you'll have to unlock the door again before
climbing the stairs to the top floor where there's a conveyor belt and a red
switch. The switch doesn't do anything, and in any case the conveyor is moving
so walk onto it and you'll drop down onto another belt. This time, WALK LEFT!
If you don't you'll end up being deposited back in the basement where you
fought Franken. At the far left, hop off the belt and exit the room up the
stairs and you're back at the right side of the ground floor near the room
with bookshelves. Walk down and leave!

The final stage of this adventure involves getting back to your tanks in one
piece. If someone is dead that's not so simple because of the high encounter
rate, even though it's only a short distance. I had to run away from two
battles before we were safely ensconced in our tanks. Use the Dog System to
return to town and claim the gold!

ii. さびれたオアシス - Deserted Oasis

LOCATION
Northwest from Santa Poco, following the western mountain range north. The
oasis is just a short distance north from the northernmost point of those
mountains.

east and the tree-lined ranges to the west. In the middle of this area, before

to miss! Drive onto the upper left sandy square to enter the Trader Camp.

Enemies around Canabelle are surprisingly weak and you'll encounter ones
you've met before, earlier in the game especially if you head towards the east
of the map. That's because you're due west from Riorado although there's a
forest in the way, for the time being.

Only the east side of town is accessible to tanks. The Rental garage rents out
two tanks but there's nothing else inside, and the large garage has a shells
refill station at the first counter and a Shells shop. Buy plenty of Hollow
Charge shells and you'll soon see how effective they can be against single
well defended enemies. (Choose to Buy (first option) and then the first option
on the next screen to replenish guns and the second option to buy shells.) The
SP Refill station is at the counter to the right and the Repair guy is
standing around at the top right. That's all in here, apart from two Vending
Machines, and there's no mod shop.

The tank parts shops sells the best engine you can buy and it can be modded
twice to improve it even further. Don't buy the main gun unless you really
need it because you'll find the same one for free in the next but one dungeon.
In fact, you'll find a lot of new tank weapons in the next two dungeons and
the only gun to consider buying is the Dragon Burner Sub gun.

Walk over the bridges to the other part of town where they sell two excellent
weapons for Hunter and Soldier, and the Top-Off Drink which heals all HP. Buy
at least three of these! The Hunter's Office is inside the building in the
centre of the town and there's the usual Memory Centre as well as a Level
Check computer and a new wanted poster. Go down the stairs to find the
Transfer Centre.

Inside the bar you'll find an upgraded Flog Race machine next to the Jukebox,
allowing you to bet 250G and win 500G! The Inn has a VIP room with a man
blocking the door so you can't check for items unless you pay the price, but
there's absolutely nothing to find so don't waste your money. Massage man is
standing at the right, next to the counter. The house at the north has a
basement but the wooden crates are empty.

The story of this place is that there's a difficult child who won't do what
he's told and keeps setting fires. The boy is found standing near the fence at
the southeast corner of town, but he won't move. Also, when you use the Metal
Detector outside the town you'll notice a flashing light indicating a hidden
item in the middle of the lower fence, but you cannot reach it. Someone points
you in the direction of the house and Ghost Base to the north, and that's the
next destination.

NOTE: According to Metal Maniax the Metal Detector item is another tank
weapon, the [サンダーブラスト] - THUNDER BLASTER. Your task might seem to find a
way to get the boy to move, but even after he does, I still couldn't reach
this item. Please let me know if you find a way to do so! (Using the Detector
inside the confines of the town reveals nothing.)

Acid ants lurk in the area to the north as you approach the Ghost Base,
however you will discover some new enemies too, most notably a dirty yellow
version of the Sonic Snake that will target your tank parts and quickly
disable them, at least necessitating repairs. To avoid having to carry repair
kits or keep returning to a town, buy the Mechanic's Kit at Hell's Gate West
village. Although expensive it allows Robin to repair many parts although not
ones that are completely broken. Equip a good Sub gun that targets groups
(such as the Dragon Burner) to Hunter's tank and he can take out all these
enemies before they do any damage.

Spend some time fighting close to the house and base to find a slightly
different kind of vehicle called a Missile Trailer,:looking like a truck with
sloping silver missiles lined up. You'll also encounter bright green pots on
wonky legs and the rare Gasoline Caiman. None of these enemies pose any threat
but it's fun to find them all! The house is surrounded with fences so you
cannot enter and must go inside the larger building.

You MUST bring lots of Para-Nons, Top-Off Drinks, and spare protectors.
Even with good armour and at Level 25 this was tough going on foot. Make sure
your party are kept in good health because you never know when you might be
involved in a sneak attack by four GI Skeleton enemies and they can take you
out fast.

Floor 1
-------
Once inside you'll meet yet more new enemies. The green bazooka wielding Army
zombie MIGHT drop a rare and powerful sword and this is the only source for
that weapon. In MMR and later games there was a better chance of getting an
item if you fought for 4 rounds, but I don't think that works in this game. I
obtained the sword when fighting these enemies on foot and it might be that
non-machine enemies give up their items if you're on foot rather than in
tanks, and tank type enemies require you to defeat them in tanks.

Stay inside your tanks for now, and cross the factory floor to the far left.
(The computers don't work and there's nothing else to find.) Drive down to the
lower wall and go right, travelling over a series of stools set between the
moving conveyor belt and the south wall. At the end you'll find a wooden crate
that contains a tank weapon: [トマトタイフーン] - TOMATO TYPHOON. It weighs in
at 4.01t so you'll need some spare capacity. This SE gun targets ALL enemies
with 420 attack power, and what makes it so strong is its high defence of 400.
One thing to notice about your tanks is that the Red Wolf can have TWO SE
weapons but one of them will take up a Main Gun or Sub Gun slot. You can
choose which way to do it on the equip screen.

The large opening at the top right of the main floor takes you to some stairs
and that means fighting on foot. There's a ramp at the top left corner of the
floor which takes your tanks down to yet another ramp and the lower floors.

Floor 4
-------
Climb the stairs from the upper right area of the main floor and keep going to
the top floor, where you'll find three strange people hanging around the beds.
Go into the small room (the door isn't locked) and open the wooden chest at
the lower left corner to find a [ぼうだんチョッキ] - BULLETPROOF VEST. That's
all, so return back down the stairs. You can head down to B1 but all you'll
find there is a single blue odd person to talk to and an empty room at the end
of a conveyor belt. While exploring on foot be VERY careful! The enemies can
easily destroy a protector with one hit or remove nearly all HP from anyone
with compromised equipment. Check the protectors (you'll see the name appear
if one gets broken) and heal HP with Top-Off Drinks. The bright blue Virus Bat
might paralyse someone, so heal that with a Para-Non.

Basement 1
----------
You'll have noticed a square room near where you found the tank weapon, with
stairs inside, but no access from this floor. It also has stairs that lead up
onto the conveyor belt that snakes across this floor. To find a way into this
room you need to drive down to the basement.

Drive to the upper left of the corridor on Floor 1 and down the ramp to the
basement. Although there's a ramp leading down to the next floor, ignore that,
and drive all the way to the south side of this floor. Go up into the room
with another conveyor and make your way around the moving belt to the lower
right side of the floor. Here you can get out of your tanks and cross the
barrier to climb the stairs back to F1. (If you get on the conveyor here, it
just drops you off onto the floor and leads nowhere.) Now you can climb the
ladder and get onto the long conveyor belt. Stay on it to the end where you'll
drop into a dark hole and end up on the upper belt on B1 again. Stay on this
conveyor until you are unceremoniously dumped off it into a hole and you'll
land inside the bottom floor.

This floor has lots of empty wooden crates and a computer screen to the left
of where you arrive. Fortunately you won't find any enemies. (There is a ramp
leading up to the previous floor if you walk all the way along the wide
corridor to the right, but leave this for now.) Examine the computer and
select OPEN to open the door to your left. Go through and you'll find a tank!
Examine the tank and claim and name it.
